In the gold lined walls of the boardroom and seated at the shiny green marble topped table uncluttered by note pads or meeting agenda papers, the company directors take a break from the business of the day.

There is a strong element of caricature about this painting.  The unhealthy looking director on the extreme left is barely sketched – perhaps a lifelong passion for making money has ultimately drained him of humanity.

He listens to a conversation between the tall thin grey haired director with the clenched fist and sloping shoulders and another person who is unseen apart from a large left hand plonked like a great claw onto the table.

The central character with his double chins, ill fitting hair piece and odd coloured jacket presents us with two clenched fists as he looks upwards towards a portly colleague who also displays a semi clenched fist.  The hairless individual on the right borders on the sub-human.

Altogether not very flattering, but then the business of any board is in essence primal and fuelled by the basest of survival instincts.
